Realizing that there is a shop somewhere in Wonderland that has a vast collection of all trekking and camping equipments, we rushed to this shop (Aim Point, Shop No. 59, Wonderland, MG Road, Pune) to buy a Sleeping Mat. Ehsan make it clear to the shop-owner that we didn't want to spend much on the mat not being a professional trekkers. The owner(Mr. Mohammed Bandukwala) of this shop (Aim Point) is a very pleasant and a soft-spoken gentleman, who has a courtesy to listen and give suggestion and explain the different equipments he puts on display.
Before narrating more about our trek stories, I couldn't stop myself to write more about Aim Point.
Aimpoint has a vast collection of equipments like air-pistol, knives, trekkin boots, fishing rods, barbecue-grill, light weight butane gas to binoculars, head lamp, lantern, backpack, tent, sleeping bag and lot more good quality stuffs. The best thing visiting this shop is the friendly nature of the shop-owner and his understanding about what the customer wants. Mr. Mohammed Bandukwala is always ready to explain about anything you ask about the equipments. Out of curiosity I happen to ask a lot of silly question about some equipments which I have no Idea how it must be operated. Mr. Mohammed Bandukwala explains it generously. If anyone has to buy anything related to any kind of adventure you must be planning, I suggest you just walkin here.
Coming back to the trek-story...
Since the low-cost Sleeping Mat we were looking for was out of stock, Mr. Bandukwala suggested that we come back the next morning so that he would arrange the Mat for us. We agreed and left the shop after purchasing a 500 Mtrs range LED Torch which as per Mr Bandukwala's calculation can last for 80 Hrs Non-Stop with the help of two Eveready batteries. This was more than sufficient for us.
The next morning we get our Mat and went straight home to do the packing thing. Ehsan was already prepared and had his bagpack ready. Rohit and I too rushed home and started to think what must be necessary for a night trek. I was more focused on the food and stuffs. We stopped at the local kirana store and purchased, camphor, Cup Maggie, some snacks and a packet of bread and jam. Glucon-D was the first on my list because I remember how Glucon-D helped me survive during my previous trek.
Once all the stuffs are packed, it was 1.20pm when we finally started from home. As usual we missed the local train by just 10 minutes and we had to board a passenger bus (100 bucks per head). We requested the driver to halt at Expressway (near Malavli) and thats where the trek starts. Having not had food since morning we decided to feed ourselvese at Bhaje Village. The only thing that they have in Menu was Wada Pav and Misal Pav. I was sure that ingesting Misal Pav will have a very less role in generating a supplement energy that will be required for a 15Kms(approx) trek. Anyway Misal Pav it is. I remember how Ehsan comnpliment the Misal Pav as the best Misal Pav he had ever had. I appreciate Ehsan for liking the Misal Pav so much (pun intended).
Now all set, we carry our backpack which may be around 6-9 Kgs and walked towards our destiny. It was 3.30pm then. As we moved, we moved on and the second part of the story starts from here which I will be writing in my next post.
